Featured Tours

Charles Pinckney Home - Charles Pinckney was a principal author and signer of the United States Constitution. This remnant of his coastal plantation is preserved to tell the story of a "founding father," his life of public service, and the lives of enslaved African Americans on South Carolina Lowcountry plantations. The site is a 28-acre remnant of Charles Pinckney's Snee Farm, a rice and indigo plantation that once fed the Charleston and international markets. Enjoy a self guided tour of an 1828 Lowcountry coastal cottage that serves as a museum and visitor center. Park grounds boast ornamental gardens and towering canopies of live oak and Spanish moss. Exhibits tell the story of Charles Pinckney and his contributions to the U.S. Constitution, of the United States as a young and emerging nation, and of 18th century plantation life for free and enslaved people through the history of Snee Farm.

Boone Hall Plantation- Founded in 1681 when English Major John Boone came to Charleston and established a
lucrative plantation and gracious home on the banks of Wampacheone Creek. The family and descendants of Major Boone were influential in the history of South Carolina, the colonies and the nation. In 1743, the son of Major John Boone planted live oak trees, arranging them in two evenly spaced rows. This spectacular approach to his home symbolizes southern heritage and will take root in your memory for many years to come. It would take two centuries for the massive, moss-draped branches to meet overhead, forming today’s natural corridor and a scene that Daytime television says is “a must see stop on any trip to Charleston, S.C.” Boone Hall has also been recognized as the #1 Plantation in the Charleston Area by USA TODAY 10 BEST.

James Island Holiday Lights Festival - Families are invited to warm their hearts as they cruise along the three-mile display of glimmering lights through the park. After the driving tour, guests can park the car and explore family attractions, shopping, dining and more. Make a trip to Santa’s Village, where old St. Nick is waiting to take photos, starting the day before Thanksgiving through Dec. 23. Take a spin on the old-fashioned carousel, toast s’mores at the marshmallow roasting pits and marvel at the outstanding 4-by-8 holiday greeting card designs created by local students for the annual holiday art competition. Enjoy entertainment on select nights, including live music, storytelling, visits with Mrs. Claus and carolers.
