Suicide Intervention Training

South Carolina Lutheran Retreat Centers, Half a Sorrow Foundation, and St. Peter's Lutheran (Pawleys Island, SC) are excited to invite you to participate in the LivingWorks ASIST training program.

The LivingWorks ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) program is a two-day training designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to intervene and prevent the immediate risk of suicide. The training is led by certified LivingWorks trainers and focuses on a practical, experiential learning approach that is both engaging and life-saving.

We believe that this training is critical for our communities, as suicide continues to be a growing public health concern. By participating in the LivingWorks ASIST program, you will gain the confidence and competence necessary to recognize suicide warning signs and take action to keep someone safe.

The training will take place on September 11 – 12, 2023 at Camp Kinard from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30p.m. The cost of ASIST training is normally $225/ person; but is only $50 for South Carolina Residents and $75 for those out of State, including 2 night accommodations and 5 meals; including a low country boil on Monday night! Accommodations are available Sunday night, September 10 & Monday night September 11.

Costs are offset by a South Carolina Synod Growing in God’s Mission Community Engagement Grant, two volunteer trainers, and our partnership with South Carolina Department of Mental Health, Office of Suicide Prevention.

We strongly encourage all pastors, deacons, and church professionals to attend, as suicide prevention is everyone's business.
